We have gone GIANT in every way!

Mrs Bell’s famous lemon drizzle cake

We started growing just a few acres of pumpkins as part of our farming interests a few years ago. We are now in Our 3rd year of Bell’s Pumpkin Patch and its bigger than ever, providing over 500,000 pumpkins for retailers up and down the country, we are one the largest producers of Pumpkins in the UK. When the Pumpkin Patch started it was small, Managing Director, Robert Bell said; “We really just did it for locals to have a bit of fun at the beginning, but with visitor numbers increasing every year, we now all really enjoy putting the whole event together. For us it’s a celebration of all things Autumn and the changing of the season.” We have many photo opportunities due to our large Pumpkin displays. Bell’s Pumpkin Patch, at Bell’s Gardening Outlet is now the largest in Lincolnshire, and one of the biggest in the UK. We grow and display the largest variety of pumpkins and gourds in the UK, with every single one available for sale. As commercial growers, we run trials for many unusual and new varieties, making the range available quite unique.  We have Maize Maze, Bounce & Climb, Potato Catapults, PYO Patch, Carving tent, Show standard displays, Halloween shop and the UK’s only Pumpkin Cannon, make it a great day out for any all ages.

We kick off the festival every year with Lincolnshire’s Giant Pumpkin Weigh Off, where there are two classes, ‘Public’, which is open to anyone and and ‘Schools, which is open to all schools. Free giant variety seeds are given away in the Gardening Outlet all through the spring. Then with generous sponsorship from NFU Mutual and Duckworths Jaguar Landrover, a first prize of £250 is awarded to the winner of each class. The winning pumpkin in this years public class was Nancy Pilkington, with a whopper of 78kg, while the Schools class was won by a 58kg pumpkin grown by Boston West Academy. All entries received a rosette, and Carl Presgrave, who heads up the festival team at Bell’s said; “This summer delivered difficult growing conditions for pumpkin growers. They’re a thirsty plant anyway, so the consistently high temperatures and lack of rain led us to think we wouldn’t get very many entries. We were thrilled to see not only so many entries, but some really large specimens too.”

Bell’s pumpkin Patch is open every day from 20th to 31st October 2018, and offers great fun for all ages. Entry to the patch is free and indoor hot and cold refreshments are available

Thank you to NFU Mutual and Duckworths Jaguar Landrover for their generous sponsorship.
