6 Herbs to grow in just water!

Here are 6 easy to grow herbs that you can grown without soil!

Convenient and easy to grow you can always have a fresh supply of herbs just ready to go with very little space required. A super family friendly activity to do with children.

All you need is a glass jar and a supply of fresh water.

Mint

Delicious as a mint tea and surprisingly tasty chopped in a salad.

Choose a sunny location, fill a jar with water and add a cutting. The cutting wants to be 10-15cm long and take off the bottom leaves. Keep the water fresh by changing it regularly and to prevent rot, make sure the leaves don't sit in the water.

Rosemary - Absolutely a must have on home grown roast potatoes!

Take a cutting about around 16cm long from a healthy plant and propagate it in a glass of water on a bright windowsill. Do not let the leaves sit in water or they will start rotting.

Coriander

Take a 5-10am cutting right below a node from your existing plant. Remove the bottom leaves and put the stem in a jar of water. Roots should start to appear in a week.

Celery

Did you know Celery was originally a swamp plant, so growing one in water is super easy.

You need a whole celery (not just a stick). Cut the Stalks off leaving 5-7cm of the base. Shave the bottom if the base to ensure it's fresh and put the base in shallow water. Make sure the dish doesn't dry out.

Fennel

Super easy, juts place the base of a fennel in a shallow dish of water and watch the magic happen.

And finally … Basil.

Beautiful with tomato pasta and a mozzarella salad.

Simply take a cutting from a thriving plant and propagate it in a dish of water. Keep in a light spot but out of direct sunlight.
